About the club

Our city. Our club. A place where children grow.

Podgorica Karate Club has carried the name of its city since 2010. For us, karate is much more than training and competitions: it is a place where children make friends, learn to believe in themselves and discover how much they can achieve with support.

A story that began in 2010

Podgorica Karate Club was founded by Jugoslav Bukilić, a former Montenegrin national team member and national kata coach, who is now the club president. From the beginning, the club has been a place where sporting knowledge is passed on to new generations and the name of Podgorica is represented with pride.

Over the years, the club has been home to national champions, Balkan champions and athletes who have competed at major international events. Today, their experience is part of what we pass on to children taking their first steps on the tatami.

Every great journey begins with a first training session

Working with children is our particular focus. A first movement, a first belt and a first competition mean something different to every child. That is why we want training to be a place for learning, trying again, celebrating progress and building confidence.

Karate develops discipline and perseverance, as well as friendship, respect and a sense of belonging. Winning a medal is a wonderful moment. What a child takes from training into school, family and everyday life matters just as much to us.

The people who share their experience

The club founder and president is Jugoslav Bukilić. Coaching for children is led by Mijat Vojvodić, a former successful kata competitor. Tamara Đurković and Marko Dučić have also been publicly introduced as members of the coaching team.

Behind every child’s progress are time, care and cooperation between coaches and parents. That support is as important to us as sporting results.

From a first appearance to major competitions

Our members compete in Montenegro and abroad, including national championships, the Montenegro Cup, Balkan championships for children and international tournaments.

The club’s competitive history includes national and Balkan champions, medals at the Mediterranean Championships, the Premier League in Rotterdam and the European Universities Championships, as well as appearances at European and world championships. These achievements belong to different generations of our club and show how far persistent effort can take you.

Beyond the tatami

We want children to grow beyond the gym, too. That is why we have taken part in educational workshops, discussions about health and nutrition, environmental activities and events that bring together sport, parents and the community.

Our story is shaped by children, coaches, parents and friends of the club. Together, we create an environment with room for effort, diversity, friendship and new beginnings.

Our mission

To give children a safe and supportive space to move, learn and develop through karate — whether their goal is a first training session or a competition appearance.

Our vision

A club that grows alongside Podgorica: proud of its sporting achievements, and even prouder of the confident, healthy children it nurtures and the bonds they build.

Come and meet us
